Updates for 2010

Wow! Its been awhile since I have posted updates to the blog.... will start trying to keep these regular. We have made alot of changes in 09 with the decision to sell Clayboy and focus on our riding. We sold Clayboy to Lisa over at Win-Huynh-Ranch and feel good about our decision because now with all the updates we get from lisa we know he is happy and she has lined up an exceptional band of mares for his 2010 breeding season. We also get visitation with him every summer which is good.

We bought some new riding horses and put training on the young ones we have here. We bought Starburst Danny for Kata (our 10 year old daughter) and he is probably one of the greatest youth show horses we have seen. He is right up there with our old black horse, Blue, in terms of his temperament. The kids can do anything with him and tend to fight over him. HE is a true packer and I never have to worry with him whether kata is in lessons or showing. He also understands voice commands so when she daydreams (which she has a tendency to do) he listens for the announcer! lol.... this is so true... have to see him to believe it. Danny is 15 and we hope we will have him with us for many years to come.

I started riding him over the winter to build my strength and confidence and he did the job. After four kids and many years out of the saddle, Danny sparked my passion for riding again. I then brought Sonnys Free Whisky home... thanks to Gwen for letting me take him... and Whisky is my new riding buddy. Whisky is a step up from Danny as he is much more curious and full of mischief! Whisky is super gentle and wouldnt hurt a fly but he is a big boy and ironically, he looks alot like Danny!

We have put training into Belle and now I am thinking of having her seasoned for youth showing. Pisim is next on the list, Jay is starting to work with her now, I hope to get some better photos and video up of her.

anyways.... will include more updates.... take care!

News for December!

I cant believe 2009 is now just around the corner!!! We decided in the fall that we would be downsizing abit and so we sold Scamp, Pisim and a couple days ago TJ went to her new home. We sure miss her already! But yesterday we brought in Cashus Clay and Classically Claymade (Sasha) to Nannette Chochar who trained TJ. Nannette does a great job working with the horses and putting the bells and whistles on for us. Cash is Jays project and Sasha is my project so we look forward to riding together this winter. I will be doing a new website, actually start working on it this week for Nannette and her beautiful horses. She is a fabulously talented trainer so I am quite excited to develop an internet home for her!!

We dropped the horses off and came home with a new addition to our family. We call him Nap. He snuggled with the kids all night and they all slept downstairs so he wouldnt get lonely on his first night away from his mom and siblings. Nap is an Australian Shepard/Border Collie Cross - he comes off a working mom. He is very special and already well loved!

News and Updates!!!

Boy I havent been so good at keeping the blog updated have I? We are getting ready for winter and have listed some horses for sale, some have already left to their new homes and Scamp and Pisim will be on their way next weekend. So sad saying good-bye but it sure feels good knowing they are going to good homes where they will not only be loved but their full potential will be realized as well.

We went to our very first APHA breed show in Moose Jaw on the 26th, well actually I should say it was the first time the kids entered in classes and competed with their horses, and what an absolutely wonderful and exhausting experience it was! It didnt help that we decided to bring along an almost pure white horse, lol. Boo went with Keestin and Kata brought her mare, Rocki (who was 6 months pregnant!). They had so much fun they even forgot to take in the waterslides while we were there, which is a huge compliment to the show itself, trust me.

I was so proud of Keestin and Boo, partly because we were so amazed at how well they did in showmanship. Boo is a natural born showmanship machine, he really is, and he loved all the attention, with all the preening over him in the washing area, and all the grooming. I was actually very nervous when Kata and Rocki entered that big arena by themselves. We seemed almost too far away from them and they were on their own, so that was nerve wracking. But I whispered into Rocki's ear before they went in, "take care of my girl in there" and she did. This is something I always do with her, and she seems to know exactly what i am saying every time. She is truley a special mare.

I wish we could have 3 or 4 just like her!

The photos are coming, i will post them as soon as they arrive. As it was our first breed show, we of course had to order as many photos as possible, lol.

until later, take care... Tracey.

My Dreamhorse

This is Ocean. She is now 9 weeks old and shedding out Black - she has a big wide blaze, four white socks and a belly spot big enough for regular APHA registry, on top of her AQHA registry. To top it off, she is out of my favorite mare we have here, Northern Zandy, who is now 19 years old. Because I am so happy with Zandys cross with Clayboy, I left her open so I can breed her early next spring for a futurity baby. If you would have asked me two years ago, what is my dreamhorse, I would have described Ocean. So I am looking forward to watching her grow and develop.

We are getting ready for the show in MooseJaw next week, but we arent ready as we have all taken turns getting sick and Keestin was in hockey tryouts (which ended today). So we start practicing again tomorrow. Rocki and Boo are blanketed and keeping clean. Well see - think we will have some fun!

News And Updates!!!

Well summer has been great! Cashus Clay hurt himself 6 weeks ago and is now ready to be ridden again. While Cash was hurt Jay starting spending quite a bit of time with TJ and Jays younger brother, Ju, worked with boo. Boo has really proven himself to Keestin as a trustworthy partner and they are now tracking steers together.

Kata and Rocki are doing great together, and showed for their first time on the 4th of August. Rocki is a gentle steady mare with the smoothest jog, so smooth i have started riding her.

Ocean is our only baby and she is now shedding out black! so i have my black and white minimal overo filly, finally!

Updates!

Its that time of year again! Clayboy has two new foals on the ground. Congrats to owners Henry Gauthier and Tyrone Tootoosis on some beautiful babies!

We have updated the website to include some new video on Clayboys page and the kid horses page, and we have also redone the baby page to make room for all the newbies that will be arriving. I have revamped the prospect page to include our younger offspring and to also have a place for our older offspring. Jay will be working with TJ, and we have a new surprise coming next weekend. So stay tuned because we will be adding another Clayboy gelding to our small herd. He is ready for team roping. So we will be adding his information once he arrives to the farm.

Hello from Out East!

Well I am in Ottawa right now for two weeks (work related) and going abit nuts not being close to my family (equine and human).....

I wanted to log on to the blog to say hello, and express my absolute excitement about our up and coming season : Spring!!! my all time favorite season of the year.

We recently purchased a new mare out of Iowa - she is a daughter of Dirty Rocki out of a Hotrodders Jet Set dam, and who we feel will make a nice riding partner for the kids and a good companion for Clayboy. We will be exposing her to Clayboy as soon as she settles in here.

As you know, Clayboy is now registered with AQHA and we will be busy getting all the paperwork in order for his last breeding season - particularly with the AQHA mares he covered. All mares will require DNA type to be on file before the babies can be registered.

We have also nominated Clayboy for the Select Futurity with the Saskatchewan Paint Club!! Clayboy will have a nice foal crop for this year, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to encourage the owners of his babies to show off abit and have some fun.
